Too easy....
I've got a couple of embossing tools I bought at a scrapbooking shop ages ago. These have got ball ends of 1 and 2 mm at either end. I've used a couple of techniques to locate the rivets: - Simply slightly indent the card from the printed side, turn the part over and emboss the rivet using an old mouse mat under the part using the indents to locate the rivet embosses. - (more complicated) - strip the colour out of the parts sheet, mirror image the parts, print on copy paper. Cut out the parts - line up the copy paper parts with the back of the card parts. The rivet positions can be simply embossed through the copy paper parts. With either method I fill the rivet indents with acrylic varnish or sometimes white glue. Regards, Charlie ( Added image of the embossing tools ) Last edited by CharlieC; 04-22-2008 at 06:00 AM. |

Great tip. It seems so obvious but I was oblivious to it.

Tracks on....
The track design was quite different from the usual. The guide plates were modeled as part of a thin frame which sets the shape of the track (first image). I trimmed the fold off once the two sides were glued to give a flat surface for gluing. The track was modeled as a 2-sided band. It is too wide for a Mk VI tankette track. I did the usual trick of cutting through the hinge lines support the track with baking paper and glue the two sides together. There were no grousers modeled so I added some cut from a spare track. There are no drive slots modeled - given the grief I had with the T-27 tracks I just went along with this design. The fit of the part with the guide plates wasn't quite right - I had to shorten it by one tooth. Fitting the tracks wasn't easy since the suspension is quite fragile. Regards, Charlie |

Charlie,
Looking good! Thanks for the updates, 'specially on the tracks and the paper embossing tools. The final tracks look fine. The detail you added really brings them out. |

The finished tracks are amazing, especially considering what you started with. Your additions have made them look very realistic. This is a very attractive little model.

Thank you for the kind comments.
Is everyone sick of tankette builds yet? Regards, Charlie |

The sculpture on the tracks, in a model of this size, it's amazing!
A truly realistic yield. Congratulations! Orazio |
