Two 1/72 Panzerjagers
One is from der Kamfflieger and one is a free model from this Russian site;
KartonWagen - ¹1 These were very quick builds, starting last night and doing bits through the day today in between work, so forgive the sloppy workmanship, I'm a bit bleary-eyed most of the time these days. But it was awfully nice to get back to building and while these are two very differently styled and designed models, they should blend in just fine with the pack on the shelf. The one from Kartonwagon came out too peachy on my printer so some marker and chalk weathering was used to mess it up a bit. While the free model has the less detailed gun and is a little cartoony by comparison, the full treads and wheels really make a difference. I enjoyed them both! Chris |

Nice little Spats, Chris!
I take your point about the full treads and wheels, but they both look good to me. The only thing that looks "cartoony" to my eye are the large cooling holes on the muffler shroud, but I know very little about German armor and that might actually be the way they were constructed. In any event, these are two fine additions to your swarm of Western Desert armor. Don |

Nice!... I wonder, what is the length of those?
That one on the left is the free model, i suspect... The wheels on it look great, and I like the tread, too. It looks more .... flexible?... than the other. Did you do anything special to the tread, or is that simply the way it turned out? |

Both look great Chris. I wonder if it would be possible to combine the kits - pair up the more detailed suspension with the more detailed gun and superstructure. I have all of Roman's vehicle models - he had a sale a year or 2 ago that was just too good to pass up, but I've yet to build one of them. When I do, I hope it comes out as good as yours.

Thanks guys! The models are about 2 & 1/2" long and yes, the one on the left is the free one. The tracks look better on it simply for the reason that they are complete tracks; I've done nothing special with them.
Don, rather than combining the kits, I suspect it would be better to simply flesh out Roman's kit with double printing the undercarriage/tracks parts and scratchbuilding any other necessary parts. While I really do like the look of the free one and it was fun to build, it doesn't really compare to Roman's in either accuracy or fit. Chris |
