Fantastic. I've looked at this model for a couple of years now wondering if it would be worth attempting all the layering work you're doing. Obviously, it is! It really fills out the dimensions on this little tank. really nicely done, sir!

Details are fun to do!! Enhancing a rather simple model that way, makes it a little gem in the end!!
Don't forget the rivets...... Great work Kevin!! |

Thanks to everyone for your positive comments on the Stewart. I hope to finish up this little project soon so I can move onto something else.
Johnny, I think I'll pass on the rivits for now....or well I , now you've got me thinking...I just have to figure out a way to punch out all those tiny little circles. The smallest hole punch that I have in my assortment of tools is a 1.0mm needle from a printer refill kit that I sharpened on the end. Has anyone ever punched out rivits smaller than 1mm? I suppose laser cut rivits might be an option, but I'm too cheep and would never spent the money on them. So please share any other ideas that you may have. Thanks again. |

I would think some appropriately sized wire or dowel cut to size would be better than trying to punch paper at that size. 1" at 1/48 scale is ~0.5mm (if my math is correct of course). That would of course require painting.

You could mix some black (or other suitable colour) acrylic with PVA glue and apply one drop at a time
