Oh my good god! Hats off that is going to be an undertaking. I agree with Clashster the Halinski Wespe I am building right now has the same problem with the neumbering of parts.

I will be watching this build, hats off for you sir to build one of Halinski Model. By my experience I think Halinski its the most difficult one to tackle.

The Jigs up... photo shows it in use.
This is very handy to assemble the small parts as well as coloring the edges. Word of warning use the glue sparingly when making the part and do not let the part sit to long on the jig otherwise it may end up glued to the Jig. There is a missing part #261b which I believe this was a rubber plug to cover the bolts attaching the rubber block the metal frame of the T62 track link. Frankly I have yet to see these in a photo so I will not be adding this part. David you can see the vinyl tubing in the photo... I'll reserve a padded room next to mine for you. Jim Nunn

Great progress roman, it looks to be a steep endeavor!
Sheer genius! I'll be keeping this in my Sherman folder for when I get to this monster. Thanks again Jim! |

David
If my memory serves me the M4A4 chassis used 162 track links so there are 38 extras already in the kit. I thought you were building the British variant not a Canadian version.

thanks Jim
looks like we have made slightly different jigs to do the same job! I was going to do a Canadian tank if I decided to keep it 100% factual in regards to the unit markings and therefore would have put some extra tracks on it as armour. But decided that this would cover up quite a bit of a model, and as the photocopies I made are a bit washed out colour wise I think I will go for putting on Wiltshire Yeomanry markings. |

well still cutting out track, but I did make up the tread and two connectors from some photocopies hence the washed out colours. When together better than I thought especially the connectors.part 262c especially but curling each end and then glueing it on to part 262a whilst still in the jig and then pushing in part 262de straight after pulled in the curled ends of part262c. Below are the trial bits of track.
do you think I should but a little hex nut head in the centre of part 262c where the printed circle is. |

Very nice work, your approach to assembling the connector parts is much better than mine. Mine did not come together as well as yours so I'll be giving this a try.

There is a friendly rivalry between armor and aircraft modelers in the plastics world. We think each other's subjects all look alike, and both of the opposing camps generally agree the other is nuts for building those types of models.
But, looking at this build, I believe all plastic modelers would agree this is a NUTS build! The work going into just the treads boggles my mind...and it looks so good, too! You know, with careful attention to seam work on the turret and some deft shadin/highlighting, you'll knock the socks off the plastic tanks once you are complete. Wow!

Thank Jim and Charles
I have come to the conclusion that paper looks more like metal than plastic. i put a hex nut on the center of part 262c and it does look good. so will have to get some more nuts. |
