Thumbs up

Charlie, my Grandfather was a Veteran of Passchendael, Oct. 4 1917.
He died some years before I was born, but my father tells me his father had on several occasions been near tanks, both Whippets and Rhomboids. The old man described them as being "Very noisy, cramped, and a deathtrap if badly hit."

In one of my books I have a photo of Whippets "passing NZ Troops" on a road, and have often wondered if in fact my Grandfather is among those in the image. It is impossible to discern, of course, since everything in the image is facing away from the camera.

I certainly enjoy visiting LandshipsII, and have spent more than a few hours there at times.
Thank you and Thank each of the talented Designers who have so generously made their models available for free on your site.

Kind and Respectful Regards Charlie my friend, Uyraell.

Let me second Uyraell's comments about LandshipsII. This is a superb site that maintains a very high standard of historical research and reporting based on extensive documentation and analysis. Charlie and his colleagues make an extraordinary amount of information and a huge library of images available and manage to maintain a dual and complementary focus on history and modelbuilding.

It is a superb resource.

Don

Hi Charlie, the link to Schlasta 26 appears to have been misdirected to Schlasta 23. Is there any way that you can put in back in its right place? Many thanks.

Hi Charlie, was catching up on this thread and decided to take a look at the Landships site, since I'd only glanced at it before. Noted you had some info on Holt crawlers used as motive power. I shot a series of photos of the 1917 Holt at the Hays-Heidrich Museum a couple of years ago if you're interested in using any of them on the site or linking to them feel free to do so.

Thank you - I certainly will use your images. With the attitude of Caterpillar towards modellers and historians all images of the Holt tractors are useful.

Regards,

Charlie
