1:1 Scale Congreve rocket

Welp, decided to do something for the War of 1812 bicentennial, and the only thing that came to mind (or rather, the only thing that I could design within a week), was a Congreve rocket.

I'm still trying to figure out the launch mechanism and the design of the launch frame, so if anyone has some detailed ratio, I'd greatly appreciate it!

As for details of the launch frame, I have seen a episode of R. Lee Emory's Lock And Load show on Youtube that had the Congreve and the Hale rockets pitted against each other. hope that helps.

Decided to make a simple stand for the model based on the launch scuttles of ships like the HMS Erebus;

I like it! I'm glad to see that someone is doing something the the War of 1812 bicentennial! So far my contribution has been to drink a couple of "War of 1812 Ales" from Sacket's Harbor Brewing!

What steamship are you doing restoration work on?

russ...

Hahah, drink's always a good thing! I'm doing restoration work on the Coast Guard Cutter Lilac, down by Pier 25 in downtown Manhattan.

As for the testbuild, motor's done - sorry for the crap quality of the build...again:

And over sixteen hours after the model should've been up, it's done!
