MM 10-58 Reprint: Scud A on IS-3 TEL
Before I get too deeply dipped in DANA, I've decided to try my luck on the reprint of the Maly 10-58 "Scud A" on the IS-3 tracked TEL.
I have reviewed this reprint here: Maly Modelarz Reprint 10-58 "Scud A on IS Tracked TEL". Scale of this model as printed is 1:43. I intend to rescale it to 1:35. What model of the tracked transporter is this? (It is obviously first-generation) Can anybody provide me some reference material?? I need to fabricate the clamshell mechanism that protects the missile body, as the kit (shy on detail) does not incorporate this. Nor do later versions. Pic #2 shows an interesting Diorama possibility, as a "few of the Boyz" mate a 9N33 nuke to a missile. A covered ZiL truck has delivered the warhead, and another truck (KRAZ with a crane) helps out. MTF! Thanks for your help! Jim

Scud-A launcher photos
Try this site for a few photos
TOADMAN'S TANK PICTURES SS-1B SCUD A The chassis is taken from the IS-3 tank and should share some parts with the earlier IS-2. Both of these vehicles can be found in "other media" in 1/35th scale. |

Time Spent in Research is Never Wasted!!
Thanks to a little help from my friends on this forum (you know who you are) , I am completing the research necessary to build up this vehicle in 1:35 scale.
I build in 1:35 so as to be able to incorporate figures, as you well know!! The launcher vehicle for this missile was built up on the ISU152 chassis, which was based upon the IS2 tank and the assault gun that followed closely thereafter......a few of which were left over after the Last Big Worldwide Beef..... (aka Great Patriotic War or WW2) I am intending a 1:35 rescale and super detailed build of this 1:50 MM kit, originally produced in 1958 and recently reprinted by the hobby shop of the Polish Defence Organisation. Ma?y Modelarz (Thanks Mike and Piotr) : I got mine thru these forum bros!! The model, as printed; is rather simple. It will definitely need some "beating into shape" . But then, "Time spent in Scratchbuilding is never wasted" either?? !! Is it? More to follow! Jim
