When I tried to glue the cupola ring around the white circle, it did not go all the way.
This is a huge problem and appears to have ruined the cupola ring. Plan A: Try to save the 1st cupola ring by cutting out the white circle. Plan B: Cut out a 2nd cupola ring and build it without the white circle. |

The 2nd Turret is taking shape and cutting out the white circle in the 1st cupola ring seems to have worked.

Circular pieces of thin cardboard were glued inside the cupola rings to give them a circular shape.
The 2nd turret continues to take shape but I am beginning to wonder if the top will be able to cover the white tabs. My black Testor's modeling knife shows a reddish color which is not really there. |

Hopefully you have not glued the second turret yet.
The trick is that you have to press in the 3 rear panels until they match the top's outline. It always seems like they won't fit, but they do. The right side is also unusual since at this scale it ends up being a straight side instead of a slight curve. I need to go back and rework the front of the turret. I really don't like having those valley folds. On the cupola, the edges are meant to meet and the bottom is glued over them, not inside them. It probably could be left of, but it helps to keep the cupola round. I see you also cut off the tabs between the edge and top of the cupola, that's what I've been doing each time. :-) Did you get my PM about the left and right fenders being labeled incorrectly? The left is actually supposed to be the right and vice versa. Great job on the build so far. Thanks for taking it on and posting the updates. |

Thank you for the comments. The PM is MIA, don't know what happened to it. As far as I am concerned, the valley folds are OK as long as I know where they are. Glad to hear that the fenders were labeled incorrectly. Was beginning to think that what my wife tells me about losing it, was true. Have not glued the second turret yet. Ken |

Spent some hours making a paint chart today.
Am trying to match the colors on the tank for touch up. My wife does crafts. Between the two of us, we have a lot of acrylic paint. Found two matches: Polly S Armor Dk. Green and Polly Scale Roof Red. No match for the yellow. Like the song says,"Two out of Three Ain't Bad". I will attempt to mix a yellow which is slightly too light with a darker tan. If lucky, I will get a match for the yellow. The picture shows that the white tabs have largely disappeared except where I need a matching yellow. |

The camera was set for long distance instead of close up so the picture is fuzzy.
Painted the inside of the fenders so that white would not show above the tracks. Track edges were touched up with Americana Burnt Umber. Second Turret top glued on two sides and covered the white tabs well. Turret top not glued on third side because it is so tight that it cannot be propped open to get the glue in. White tabs were cut off of the Driver's Hatch and Rear Axel covers; these parts will be edge glued with Alleene's Tacky Glue. Pictures show that the top of the Cupola is round like a ball (a difficult shape to make in paper). I have a corsage pin with a large (6mm) bead on the end. The top of the cupola was placed in my hand with Elmer's glue on the white side. Plastic wrap was put over the glue and the 6mm bead was pushed into a soft part of my hand and held for approximately 30 seconds to allow the paper to adjust to the circular shape. The cupola top stuck to the plastic wrap and was allowed to dry. |

Here we have the finished cupola and the top is quite round.
The Engine Access Hatch and the Driver's Hatch have been glued to the front of the tank. The Rear Axle Covers have been glued but not attached to the rear of the hull as yet. Tracks are glued to fenders but are not attached to the hull as yet. |

That has turned out really well (if I do say so myself)! Is that the first or second turret you built? Either way, it looks like it turned out OK.
The cannon barrel is another tricky part that I haven't really decided on whether it could be designed better or not. I'll be interested in your feedback on it. |

This is turning out to be a very nice build of a good looking model! Can't wait to see how the barrel turns out!
