GPM Tiger I Wittmann (#271) laser-cut frames question
Just started this kit and invested in the laser-cut parts.
In laying the laser cut frames on the patterns, I see there are some problems. They are too short in the long axis. As I assemble the body, the parts fit but the final structure is not quite the right size for the panels that are to be added. A quick measure shows the body is about 2 1/2 mm short. Has anyone worked with this kit and frames? Did you encounter the same problem? If so, how did you deal with it? I've paid the money and would like to save a little tedium. I've also paid for the laser-cut wheel parts. I'm worried the issue will be there same there. If the kit doesn't go together right, I've wasted my money and will be wasting my time. Thanks. |

Might be worth checking some of the other forums:

Looks like laser-cut frames were not the best idea. The model itself (none of the below used laser-cut frames) seems to be designed quite good:
Pz.Kpfw.VI Tiger Ausf. E (GPM) Pz.Kpfw.VI Tiger Ausf. E (GPM) Konkurs pancerny GPM - Tiger Wittmanna But here I found the build report where someone tried to use laser-cut elements. And: [RELACJA] PzKpfw VI TIGER Ausf.E Elements T1 and T2 were too short (2 mm!), but the builder found a way around, he cut towing hooks (no idea how you call these elements in English :D I don't do tanks!), thickened the rear wall, sanded it and later had no problems with the build. |
