A project in three acts

So after my mini odyssey building the nanzan/seiran twins, I decided to change focus away from planes. After an informal poll in Facebook where the most obvious trend was for me to build an half track, I decided to ignore it and go with this idea. We'll see how this one turns out.

I call it a project in three acts. I will attempt to build the Diamond T and M9 Rogers along with an M3 Grant as payload. I'm actually starting the build with the payload....

Didn't know that the Diamond T was available. Was the basis for a lot of heavy haulage conversions after they were surplused out. Will be following with interest. Another one I got to find.

This is a really great project. Like Wayne, I was unaware that thea model of the Diamond T existed.

And so a new Perry-vs-Stephens contests begins: Dragon Wagon and Sherman vs. Diamond T and Grant.

Greg - you HAVE to bring this model and the rest of your stable of U.S. Army WWII vehicles to the 2015 Army Heritage Days. And we have to have side-by-side Perry and Stephens tables at the International Paper Modelers' Convention (IPMC) in October.

So build of the Gremir M3 Grant has begun. Spent the last day laminating and cutting out frame pieces. There are a lot of frame pieces. It will be one sturdy beast when done, I think.

So, some of you may wonder about the choice of the M3 for the first phase of this build. The answer is, I know me. If I don't build it first I would be likely to not build it as the project moves on. I am lazy sometimes. I already have an M3 Lee build (GPM) and could easily put it on the trailer and shorten the project. If I build the Grant first, I don't disappoint you (or me) and I'll actually have a choice of tanks to put on the trailer.

The one thing that could still affect the final configuration is the markings. The Diamond T and trailer are marked for the US while the Grant is marked for the British. Being slightly ignorant on some battlefield operations, I don't know how likely there would be a mix between the two. I would be interested in hearing your input.

So the Grant is being built first with the Lee in the wings waiting to sub-in if needed for historical accuracy purposes.

Also, I picked this instead of a dragon wagon build so I would not steal away any attention from Kevin's masterful build. My hope is that my project supplements his.

This is going to look great Greg.
Nice to see the formers for the M3 ready to go.
I'll be following along closely on this as the M3 Grant is towards the top of my build cue.

Looks like you have your historical evidence, except for the color scheme.
