Hi elliott. I find cutting circles difficult too. Normally I simply cut them using a stencil cutter. I use two techniques in cutting them. 1) Slow and direct cutting along the outlines of the circle (along the circumference). Cutting in a curve. 2) Slice cutting. Here first you make a circular cut outside/around the circumference. Circle or square with the subject circle inside. The make a straight line cut/slice passing tangent to the circle's circumference point by point. Often times, approach no. 1 is enough considering that the stencil cutter has some degree of flexibility to cut in a curve.

Not familiar with a stencil cutter, at least by that name. You wouldn't happen to have a pic of yours would you? Google returns pics of so many different types it's impossible to know for certain what kind of stencil cutter you're referring to.

I use different sizes but preferably the cutter with a locking mechanism.

Aha. I was expecting some huge, complicated gadget. Simple answer to a simple question.
Boy do I feel dumb......

I will be trying gasket punch on future projects. The catch on this is getting the right size for the scale that you'll need. To give you an idea, check this out.

Holy *****, hotfinger! That looks astonishing! And even better, it motivates me to keep going with my scratch-build of the E100! (same scale) This is by far one of the most impressive scratch builds I have ever seen! Can't wait to see some paint on it now

This is my first time checking in. I don't know where I've been. You're doing an incredible job the old fashioned way. This is the type of old school scratch building that isn't seen too often nowadays, and your results are amazing. It looks like you're using mat board as your primary hull/turret material, stiffened with crazy glue for sanding. What filler are you using? Can't wait to see it painted.
