BEF Mathildas in 1/72
Hi Folks,
as my Rolls-Royce Armored car project comes to an end I have started this project about two months ago. I am building two Infantry tanks , Mk I, Matilda I (A11) and one Infantry tank , Mk II, Matilda II (A12) proposed for a diorama playing in France 1940. The models (both types) can be found here: http://www.geocities.co.jp/Playtown-...en/given2.html Originally they are in 1/100 scale and were designed by Mr Takamoto some 14 years ago. I will rescale them so that they will be in aproximately 1/72 scale. Some references for the Mathilda I: - The Airfix Tribute Forum - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matilda_I_(tank) A11, Infantry Tank Mark I, Matilda I Infantry Tank Mk I Matilda (A11) - Infantry Tank - History, Specs and Pictures - Military Tanks, Vehicles and Artillery http://www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/ww...atilda-MkI.php Hope you enjoy it. I am interested in building a Matilda Mk I (A11) in 1/72 scale.
Did you finish this model ? What problems did you encounter ? |

Hello Zakopious, Sorry, due to my work schedule I am not very activ in the forum for a long time - in fact I continued work on the models a little bit, mainly building the running gear and so on. I did not post any fotos of that progress yet, maybe I will do in the near future as I am planning to take up modelling more often in the future. So until now I have not encountered any major problems, beside the fact that the tanks are quite small themselves, meaning they are even smaller in 1/72 scale. I think the turret will be a little tricky to build, and of course the main armament - MG's. For the armament I found a solution: white metal parts in 1/76 scale. Rivets (also a tricky part of the work in small scales) will be provided by Archer Fine Transfers - resin decal rivets which I have allready used with my Japanese Type 94 tankettes. For something similar in plastic: see https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/airf...-i-t46949.html |
