WAK 4/2013: Willys MB "Jeep" 1:25

I thought about starting a little more "down to earth" model on the side of the Polikarpov build and WAK Willy's jeep 1:25 seems a nice. I ordered also the lasercut parts for the wheels with the kit.

As for the edge coloring, the Faber-Castell "PITT artist pen" Walnut brown 177 seems to be quite a good match for most of the edges. On wire parts, 0,5mm, 1mm and 1,5mm thickness are the only ones used.

While reading the beginning instructions and looking at the first parts I started wondering about the + signs in with the part numbers. The instructions themselves don't indicate that the + would mean e.g. to laminate to certain thickness (like in Halinski). I bet someone here has experience in WAK models and could clarify this?

I think the parts with a + mean that they will be laminated to accompanying part . E.g. 1AP+ is laminated on 1P. Clear enough.

Looks like a good kit with lots of detail parts.

Thanks for the information on the materials you are using.

@Don: Yep, there seems to be decent amount of details. Maybe not Halinski amount, but quite a bit. I'll attach a part overview here if somebody is interested. Four pages of typical card stock thickness and one sheet of normal paper.

While searching for info & build threads on this kit, I stumbled on images of Willy's jeep first aid kit. Seems that it is not modeled here so maybe I'll make an attempt to add it in. I'll put it available in the downloads section IF I happen to get something decent out of it. Though that needs to wait until I get new printer.

It also can be mean to laminate the part with .2mm card stock which is 67lb or 180gsm card stock.

Yep, that's how it is in Halinski kits. But now I hope it is not the case here, otherwise I am in trouble ... In the construction image there is no indication of thicker paper. Also the fit was quite tight so I doubt there would have been any space for .2mm card stock.

Maybe I need to ask for clarification from WAK.

Looks quite a detailed kit.

Lots of parts in quite a small size

Got a reply from WAK about the + markings and indeed it means to glue on 0.2mm card stock. Do'h! Well, I hope the frame beams are strong enough without that added 0.2mm... Time will tell.
