GPM Ciagnik C4P

Following the death of my mother, I decided to start building a new model to take my mind off things. I've wanted to do something different for a while and decided to try the GPM Ciagnik C4P. The difference is that this is a mixed media model with paper, wood and metal wire as components. This is all new to me. Plus, the instructions are in Polish, so... more fun. There are one or two completed builds online that I am using as guides and Google's translation is good enough for government work.

The Polish Wikipedia describes the C4P as a "Polish półgąsienicowy artillery tractor from the period before World War II." I'm guessing the "półgąsienicowy" means something like "super-awesome" or possibly "half-track".

This is a medium difficulty model. Just like at Hertz, I get automatically downgraded one level when I'm building it. Down the road, I'll have to make some choices whether to finish the vehicle as a tractor, a trailer or a truck.

Here are some pictures. The last picture shows a bamboo shish-kabob skewer that exactly fits the dimensions of the front chassis bar which I have painted flat matte black (Testor).

This is a great little vehicle.
It was this one as showcased in a GPM cover shot that really got me interested in paper models from Poland some years back.
This one & the others in the group pic attached are all colorful interesting subjects.

Ciągnik is a kind of vehicle that we use to pull something and półgąsienicowy means haltrack

In Polish we use ciągnik and traktor. Both words have the same meaning: tractor

I am really happy to see this model on the matt Waiting for the first photos and wish you good luck

Thanks, hirondelle, douglas and 7TP. I'm glad my semi-intelligent guess of "half-track" turned out to be correct.

I finished the chassis and the front chassis bar. Suspension springs next.

Thanks, 7TP! It's been busy. Not much time to work on the model until today.

Earlier, I said that suspensions springs would follow next. To be more technically accurate, a leaf suspension system follows next. The first picture shows the uncut leaves. The next two pictures show the completed system. Borrowing an idea from a Polish builder elsewhere, I created some clamps from scrap paper. I find it aesthetically more pleasing.

This is an excellent project, although I am sorry to hear of the sad circumstances that led you to it.

You are off to a good start with the chassis. Nice precise work.
