Russian Armored car

Hre is the start on a Armored car from a Russian site Keds Girl Lala was kind enough to post here. Russian site for airplane, armor car and bus model

Th scale is supposed to be 1:48 scale but I shrink it down to 4x6 pieces of TV Dinner boxes, so it is small.
I hope to finish it soon. So far, a good little build.

I would like to color it. I tried to re-paint or add color in Gimp but it comes out fuzzy. On this one I may just use old fashion model paints.

It should not come out fuzzy. Just use the fill tool.

I am still learning on Gimp. I am so computer dumb it is not even funny. My wife's 17 year old girl knows all of these programs, including photo shop, but trying to get any time from her to show me is unlikely to happen. The teenager and I have kind of a cold war going on, we get along when we have to, but mostly we leave each other a lone. She kind of despises me because I am old (37), I am from South Dakota so she thinks I am a hick or red neck, but mostly I infringe on her time with her mother. Oh well, all the other kids get along with me just fine, but none of them know how to use Gimp. They can show me the secrets to getting to the next level in WOW.

The 10 year old even got tired of the digital camera not working, so her tore it all apart, then reassembled it, fixing loose wires and cleaning the guts out. Now we have a working camera again!

OK, between my other armored car build and my parents coming to town I kind of got off track on this little guy, but now I will continue. Even at this scale the little handles for engine covers and hatch covers are doable.

I am still trying to cox closeups out of the old camera, it takes distant shots just fine but at close range it sees about like me with out my glasses or contacts.

I will post more soon.

Hello, got a bit more done. I got the back bumper-shield on the back and the front axle made and on. I am working on the front wheels next.

I do not think I will paint this one, I guess this is the winter cammo! Or may be I can just paint a little blue UN on it?

I have the model my self. I do not know very much about the actual car. But if it was from the World War perhaps it is khaki. In the Civil War it would be probably dark grey or dark green with the black chassis and black wheels of any Russian truck.

Some vehicles in the Civil War years they can be white with Red patriotic slogans

I always have to pause when you talk about "Civil War" Your Civil War and mine happened about 60 years apart.

I might rethink the painting though. Khaki with black could look pretty cool.
