Lancia 12M Corey's in 1/48th

All,

Another beta build...this time a car with three machine guns. How cool is that?

This one has had no issues at all so far and is moving right along...I think the directions are a bit clearer than the last one. Or I'm getting the hang of the style!

Got the turret on and am starting to add the machine guns. Looking really neat. Can't wait to put the white tires on!

nice! Great job so far...

These Lancia cars were actually in use somewhere in the world from 1916 to the mid 1950s! The Kingdom of Afghanistan finally gave up on them some time in the middle 1950s, and US soldiers recovered two of them in 2007. One of these are being restored to WW1 specs in a museum in Italy now. I also have a couple of series one and series two models ready, these have the super imposed turrets making them cool, top heavy, too high in profile, but mean looking! The guy shooting the gun in the top turret would stand on a pedestal and kind of almost wear that little turret like an over-sized helmet! But it moved independently from the main turret. The whole crew compartment had racks of cubbies for machine gun ammo and grenades.

Any how, I am loving the way all of my test builders are putting these models together!

Lancia 12M DONE!

Thanks for the info, Corey. These things are fun to put together!

So it's all finished and went together with little drama. I only added tiny protruding gun barrels from the cooling jackets and cut down the gun bodies since I stupidly put on the top of the turret BEFORE adding the guns. My only flub fit problem was that I didn't give enough curve on the left side body and so you can see a gap near the rear fender. My own doing!

In terms of kit parts, everything fit really well and the whole build was just more intuitive than the last one. Not sure why but putting one together before this one may be the real reason...I only couldn't get the thin strips that go around the front of each gun barrel to fit. In each case, I left a a fraction of a millimeter open. This same thing happened to me on the tires. I couldn't get them to close leaving about a 1-2mm gap. This may well have been how I cut the tire rim out, though. I did like the fact that the tire strips were attached to the rims to start with!

On to the shots:

Great fun and a nice addition. I think I could get into armor, dang it!

Cheers and thanks for looking,
Dan
