2D3D Raumer S
Lately I have found it more convenient to post build progresses on facebook, since I have many non-paper model building friends that are not on this forum. This build is one I just completed and posted progress there.
I decided I did not want to have folks on here miss out that otherwise would so I'll share my pictures. As far as the build goes, this model builds up nicely and is rather robust except for one part - the articulating joint. I think this could be designed differently and more robustly. I had a breakage there near the end of the build caused by a curious grandson. Though I was able to repair and finish the model, I don't feel as though I can display it for any length of time without additional support. Anyway, some history first: This is a "what-if" livery of a real life prototype Raumer S minenraumer. It is a 130 ton dual engine articulated beast intended for mine clearing duties. It was too slow, so only one prototype was ever built. The allies captured it at the end of the war from its storage facility but it is unknown what ever became of it. Most likely it was scrapped. greg

Note the last picture is the Raumer S next to a car of the same scale (1/25)

Excellent work! A 57 Ford is around 203 inches overall length with a 118 in wheelbase for the Fairlane 500 chassis, so that thing is huge. That's odd enough to interest me. Were did you source it from?

Your model is beautiful, Greg. The assembly is impeccable. There is a free 1/50 model of the Krupp Raumer S by Tinchik Models Industries available at VK, whulsey. I'm not sure if you need to become a member of VK in order to access the model. It's beautifully textured, but I'm sure it's not as detailed at this 1/25 version. If I remember correctly, I got it from Orlik. But I've had it a little While so don't know if it is still available from them. GPM may also have it. greg
