Parts 47 and 48 rear pintle assembly
Actually part 48 is supposed to have a retention disc to keep the shaft locked in place within the housing part 47. However the shaft is too short leaving nothing for the disc to attach to. Besides all this and the fiddly construction of some of the pieces of 48, I have had no real fit issues to report. greg

The rear pintle hitch assembly is finished and installed.
This brings us up through part 50. Parts 49l are the bushings between the U-shaped latch and the top post it attaches to. They are too long and needed to be shortened for proper fit. Part 49o is the inner surface of the U-shaped latch and it is too short. I cut it in the middle and patched the gap with spare card. Part 50 is the hitch pin. I had to ream the hole it fits into for proper fit. the hitch will rotate within the housing, the housing will pivot side to side and the pin is still removable. Next up are the road wheel sets. Parts 51 are for six of the twelve sets. I now enter the tedious/repetitious part of the build... greg

Wow, that's a lot of circles to cut. If it was me, I'd actually be looking forward to it, I just bought the thinnerline circle cutter and can't wait to put it to work. Best of luck, I'm looking forward to seeing how they turn out.

While I have a circle cutter, I don't use it. I find I have better control with knife on inside circles and scissors on the outside.
Although I do use a Japanese hole drill for anything 5 mm or under. Greg

I'm going out of order while building these road wheels.
I glued parts 51a and b back to back. Actually I drilled the center holes of all then the lightening holes in one of the webs and found that a and b matched up to each other before cutting everything out, SO I glued them together, then drilled the rest of the holes and then cut the discs out. Makes for a much cleaner result. Just realized no picture of this yet, sorry will need to update later on. Then comes the sidewall rings. Each assembly is made up of three rings of decreasing outer diameter. The inner ring is so thin that I just wanted to avoid miss-fitting by trying to glue them after cutting them out completely, SO I cut out the inner two rings and stacked them onto the largest ring leaving the center portions intact. After they dried, I cut out the centers, freehand, with a knife. Then I cut the outer rings free. Much easier that way! greg

It's been awhile. I blame work travel and low motivation. But I have finally finished assembly of the first half of the road wheels. Now for paint.
