This next post concerns the gun installation.
Thank the great big Dude that I did not glue the roof in place. If I had, and even if I had the hatches operable, one would have been able to hear much flowery language originating in Iowa and transmitting across all of these United States (including Alaska and Hawaii). The gun assembly just DOES NOT simply slide into place. It must be assembled piece by piece into place and it is not intuitive (kinda like solving a rubiks cube with all the block colors on the inside). It cannot be assembled numerically either. I spend quite a few hours exercising brain cells that I then felt the urge to kill off chemically. I finally got something that will work in place, but I'm not 100% happy with it. Maybe just 80% happy with it. greg

Looks like you overcame this formidable challenge, Greg. Looks like a silk purse.

That interior looks awesome Greg! I’m glad you have a lot of pictures of it...I don’t think I could bring myself to glue the top on.

Been awhile since I checked in on this project. Still plodding along with it. I had hoped to make great progress last week during my quarterly visit to Wichita for work but was hopelessly distracted by other interesting things found at the Hobbytown there.
I did manage to assemble and touch up the idler and drive sprockets though. Word of warning on the drive sprockets, especially if you use laser cut parts, the lightening holes and the teeth are not symmetrical with each other. there is one way to match everything up, so you can't just slap it all together. Also, I am not sure how robust these two assemblies will be during final assembly. They do not have very solid connecting points to the hull. I shall be breaking out the superglue to affix these later on. I will not be doing that, however, until the tracks are underway and I can ensure proper clearance with the fenders, especially for the drive sprocket. greg

24 road wheels and 6 idler wheel assemblies later I am now starting the tracks. Since I have laser cut tracks to make life easier, the road wheels take the title of most obnoxious part of build.
To be fair, fit was decent until the outer wheel tread was installed. Thankfully, I did not remove the glue tab as I needed it to cover what would have been a gap in the tread. There were reinforcement strips to roll up and insert into the road wheel axle tubes but I didn't like that they were not as robust as I hoped. I replaced them with cut down pieces of lollipop sticks. The idler wheels needed laminated but some of the parts were not labeled as such. I used the cross sectional drawing provided to address this. I also used some evergreen rod to use as axles on those as well. Now I get to do the track. The laser cut parts here, are a vast improvement in assembly ease over the kit supplied ones. However if you build this without the extras, the kit does give you the option between band tracks and individual links. greg

The whole project is stunning. I wish I had the interest span to tackle such a detailed model. Please tell me that the top of the hull is removable so that beautiful interior can be appreciated.
