And here is the completed Phase I of the build: The StuG III Ausf A

Finished up the tracks and mounted them last night.

Sooo glad I went laser cut with these!

Tracks are painted Krylon flat black with Vallejo Oily Steel for highlights and wear marks.

I had to modify the drive wheel teeth to fit the track. I then painted them the same Oily Steel color.

Now to divert my attention to other projects before I start Phase two. Not sure if I will be doing the trailer or the Famo next. Must think this over...

greg

Oh crap, I just realized I didn't hang the bucket from the back of the StuG yet....

Greg. Great work. I have a Tiger by GPM in my build pile and I'll be using your thread for tips.

Unfortunately you will probably have to come to Iowa to see it as I do not currently have plans to be at the IPMC this year. My only trip back East is slated for the Middle of June through early July this year.

When I do make it back to the convention this one will be coming with me along with whatever I have done of transporter portion.

Thanks!

Don't know if the Tiger was designed by the same person as this StuG, so take my tips with a grain of salt in case they don't quite match your experience.

If you are building any of the other variants of this kit (Panzer III, etc.), my tips may be more than helpful.

Hey Don, Thanks! Still need to get those prizes for IPMC out to you. May have to substitute something else for the Piranha though if I can't find a suitable box for A3 size models...

You've done a masterful job on the StuG Greg. Whichever part of the trio you choose to do next I know it will be great.
