Many thanks for the additional images and information, Charlie. If Wayne runs out of tanks to model, the possibilities for trucks, tractors, and artillery are nearly endless.

Tim - With regard to the last image at your first post (the one with the gun at sort of half-cock): http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/612854-post1.html Did you build the model with movable trails and a sliding barrel? Or did you build two models?

Don

Don

I ended up having to build two sets of arms. Glued on the spade ends before I should have.

Is this the type of gun mentioned many times in books on Normandy landings in 1944?

I found some fights for French made 155mm guns mentioned many times in different sources,I think it's also mentioned in "Saving Private Ryan" but I'm not sure. They even ended up getting their own missions in Medal of Honor or Call of Duty games.

Possibly. The Wehrmacht used a lot of captured French heavy artillery as coastal defence guns. These included 155mm GPFs but also could have been:
Canon de 155 L Mle 1917 Schneider
Canon de 145/155 Mle 1916 Ruelle St-Chamond
Canon de 155 L Mle 1918 Schneider
Canon de 155 L Mle 1877/1914 Schneider

Captured Russian guns were also used as coastal defence guns.

Regards,

Charlie
