FT-17 Girls und Panzer

I have finished the 3rd model in my GuP series - the venerable Renault FT-17. It started out life as Wayne McCullough's 1/48 white model, which is an enlargement of his original 1/72 kit. I further enlarged it to 1/35 scale to match the other models in the series.

Any little design problem is amplified as the scale goes up, and I thought there might be some minor fit issues as the model grew from 1/72 to 1/35, but I'm happy to report that there were none. It appears that there is a discrepancy with the placement of the wedge shaped suspension support "wings" at the nose of the tank (photo 1). This is consistent across all the scales and liveries of this model offered at Landships II. I cut them off and laminated them to cardboard anyway, so my build wasn't affected.

I colored the model to match the FT-17s in the anime. I still need to add a light blue pennon. The insignia on the turret is the logo of the BC Girls High School, a French themed school. At the rear of the tank is a heart symbol which is a GuP homage to the early French practice of using playing card suits as part of their unit designation system.

Photo 2 is a shot of suspension part 22 before and after coloring. I'm very happy with my Photoshop work on this model. I'm still learning, but I think I improve a bit with each model.

The photo collection is side and top views, closeups of the turret, one with the crew, and finally a group shot of the three tanks and their crews. The day was dark and rainy, so the photos aren't the best. I had to adjust the brightness and contrast in Photoshop.

Enjoy!

I appreciate your comments, fellas. Thank you very much. It's time to move on from Girls und Panzer. I have unfinished projects to get back to.

Thank you Phillip and Don . I plan to bring all 3 of these tanks (and their crews), to the IPMC in October as part of my table display.
