Curious, interesting. Can you suggest the line of research that suggests such a vehicle was considered because as an ex tanker in the British Army it leaves an itch that cannot be scratched right now.

hi mike1158 full name fv214 conqueror it had a 120mm main gun year in service 1955 -66 boar service only hope this helps

There was a proposal (FV215b) to fit a Conqueror chassis with a 183mm gun in a turret (casement?) with limited traverse. This got as far as a wooden mockup. The idea wasn't progressed probably because the Conqueror proved to be operationally limited by its weight and unreliability of the transmission.

Thanks to all for your interesting.

The variant of the Conqueror tank with additional armor was made in the first half of the 50s for testing combat parts of anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM) "Dart" and "Malkara". On tests, this machine played the role of a heavy tank, which could appear in the future. Serially not produced.

Thanks guys but I know about the Conqueror and it's service in BAOR. It is the up armoured vehicles I had not come across before. I managed to find the data available.
