I believe you need to supply a cell number at initial registration time, but not to worry. The only time VK ever pings my phone is to supply me with a 6-digit number that I input at each login. This extra layer of security makes it very difficult for your account to be hacked.

Having taken a look around, the M-18 Hellcat is from another site. No idea what the arrangement is though.

The M-18 is designed by Alexey Kozlov, a very active member of the VK paper tank community. It's inclusion in the collection is legit.
