The WoT Mark I is quite inaccurate.

When the Mark I model was proposed, before it's release, I tried to get the Russian designers to use the highly accurate drawings created by Helen Lawson who was building a 1:6 motorised Mark I. In a fit of "head up backside" xenophobia they went with some drawings in a Russian publication from the 1970s which were mostly guesswork.

There is an accurate Mark I available on Landships II - Wayne McCullough, the designer, worked with Helen to refine his existing Mark I model. There are 3 versions available on Landships as well as a white model.

The Ukranian model manufacturer, Masterbox, used Helen's drawings to create their Mark I plastic model. Even the fanatical rivet counters in the plastic model world haven't found many faults in the Masterbox model.

However, the WoT model does have some quite nice features. The textures used to represent the Solomon camouflage and mud are quite nice. The grenade shield - chicken wire and wood frame - is quite well modelled but not quite accurate.

I did a partial comparison build of Wayne's Mark I and the WoT Mark I - Mark I tank models compared. I got as far as the sponsons and gave up following an accident involving the WoT steering wheels and a rather nice red.

As an aside I don't think most people have a handle on how big many of the WW1 tanks were. The Mark VIII, used by the US Army in the 1920s, was about 20% longer than the Mark I with steering tail. The German A7V is a real monster, about 10 metres long and 3 metres high. I've had opportunity to stand beside the A7V Mephisto it is really imposing.

Regards,

Charlie

Thank you very much for the information Charlie, as I said before I know that you know a lot about this. I do not know anything, I find out something before building a model but without going very deep. I was looking at the Landships page, many interesting and historical models, even the Mark 1 of Wayne I have downloaded, I think that the Wot finished I will build it to see the differences. Although it is not accurate the model is nice and gives an idea of what these pioneering tanks were. I appreciate your gesture for providing information , it is very good to learn something more about these pioneering armored cars. A cordial greeting and thank you very much
Sergio

Greetings boys. A little more of the Mark 1.

Part 3: the barbetas, very entertaining, as usual everything fits perfect, some folds, a couple of rolls and above all to study well where to begin to close. First arm the main body leaving the part where there is a door without closing to be able to place what would be the turret without problems. I decided well, I had no problems to hold the pieces with tweezers until the PVA acted. The cannons are only to show how they are, I will place them only at final

Great work with this Mk I, to split the track links was a good idea, and with some risk on your part as well.
The Mk I is a must be in any armor collection; I made the landships counterpart four years ago, no WoT Mk I yet, and also the Mk V. As I work on 1/72 scale, I'm not fond of overworked weathering as it tends to blur details in smaller scales.

Thanks guys. After the information that Charlie gave me I had Wayne's design printed, to see the differences between both designs. I do not know much about this, I find out something before starting and nothing else. I do not look for the model to be an exact replica of the real vehicle, I do not have those skills, nor time to look for all the necessary information for that. I just want to have a good time and relax and these designs of Wot, even if they are not exact, get that effect on me, I really enjoy building their models.Thank you for watching and commenting guys

Vinalssergio155 - a great build.

And yes - I go with your comments in your last post.

If the model looks and feels right and you are happy - then all is fine!

Thank you very much Kevin. Today a little more, not much, little time available. Finish the details in the helmet, several pieces, nothing complicated, those pieces take more preparation than anything else, cuts and paint edges, mount them is just paste in place With this the helmet is finished, it is still to build the tail of direction and the shield or cage antigranadas and some adjustments. Thank you all.
