Rear section is almost complete, I'm really pleased with how quickly this came together, thanks to those days off last week. I've left off the compartments that sit between the wheels, I'll add those after the wheels are on, to make sure everything lines up properly.
I've also built the two ladders that go on this section. I've been using brass rod for most of the metal parts on this build and have had some pretty bad luck trying to solder stuff together so I've given up on that idea and was introduced to a glue called J-B Weld. This stuff is great, it's a 2 part epoxy and although it takes a long time to set and cure properly, the bond is fantastic, this will be my new "go to" glue for working with metal parts in future. I built a quick and easy jig out of scrap card to hold all the parts in place during the excessive cure time. Next up, I will be building the missile. I've been trying to leave it till last as I've heard it's the easiest part of this kit to build, or least troublesome anyway, but like Greg suggested in his build thread, it might be handy to have it built for when I'm building the launch pad and missile gantry. |

Some really nice work. Hope you can continue to bash the problems in the kit

Thank you. I think the worst of the issues are behind me now, the missile is nearly complete, the only issue I've faced with that so far is a rather dodgy job I've done rolling the main tube. I'm not happy with it but it's too late to fix it now.

Missile is done. I didn't think I was going to have too much trouble with this, but I did. I'm not even going to bother going into detail about it. I'm not happy with it or proud of it at all, but it's going to have to do.
I've added a bit of detail, I scored the panel lines, added some rivets here and there... There are literally hundreds of rivets on this thing, so to save time (and rivets) i substituted laser cut rivets for pin holes in some areas. Up next was the missile rack / launch pad thingy... |

I'd like to say this next section was a bit more enjoyable but the fun didn't really start until I managed to decipher exactly how it's supposed to go together. The drawings are confusing, there's more mislabeled parts, without the 2 build threads I've been using for picture references and extra instructions this section would have been a nightmare.
I had to keep the parts separate for painting, after painting I glued most of it but I've left the round base that holds the missile unglued for now, in case I need to move it to line up properly with the missile when it's in the gantry in it's lowered position. |

So finally, it's come to this... One last batch of parts. I started to count the extra parts I was adding but gave up on that ages ago but including rivets, it's somewhere in the thousands.
This last few hundred parts will make up the missile gantry, after which I have a lot of final assembly, detailing and weathering to complete but it's a safe bet to say this beast should be done before the year is out, months ahead of schedule. |
