Canadian Centurion Tank
This is my first attempt at building a paper model. I stumbled onto Dave Winfield's amazing design for the 1/16 Centurion and just had to build one since my Dad was a career member of the Canadian Armoured Corps. A proud member of the Royal Canadian Dragoons, Fort Gary Horse, and 8th Canadian Hussars commanding Sherman and Centurion tanks.
More can be seen at Dave Winfield's Cutandfold Paper Model Forum. Thanks Dave for the amazing kit and the help from Burning Beard, Vermin King and yourself! |

wow, you even cut out the rear Grille!! I'm impressed.
.... LOL I apologize to all who spent a good chunk of their lives building the Tracks for this model. I feel your pain. lol ... So, would you like to build a Saladin next?

The model came out great, thanks to your obvious skill and Dave's excellent design. You picked an incredibly difficult kit for a first time build, so by now you're either hopelessly addicted, or you'll never build another card model in your life - which is it?

Thank you for the compliments, Dave's design of the Centurion is not difficult to build it just requires patience and time. Most of the parts are very straight forward to assemble, just lots of them, especially the approximately six feet of treads.
I really enjoyed building the tank, cutting parts while sitting outside on my patio in the sunshine, quietly sitting pre-shaping and gluing pieces in my Rec room in the evening. Travelling on vacation with a little kit of printed parts, scissors and glue pen. It is a very zen like hobby without fumes and sawdust unlike my main hobby of R/C model planes. So, Rockpaperscissors, I think I'll work on some much simpler paper models for a while and also get back to building and flying R/C models. Dave, yes the treads sure were tedious but really look good when done! I think your Saladin is fantastic with great detail but my wife would commit me if I started to work on another complex model. She thinks I'm nuts already for building the Centurion... |

But, the two of them...sitting side by side...same scale...same era...same thrill.
But what do I know...I have a cold.
