WoT Pz Kpfw B2 740(f)

A beutepanzer version of the Char B1. Made some changes to the tracks so they looked more like the original and used my old technique to make a more compliant track. I found the hull is a bit weak where the simulated drive sprockets are located - this should be reinforced. The turret was quite slow to put together since it's got a lot of odd angles. The beutepanzer doesn't have the hull mounted 75mm howitzer - I guess the Germans thought it not worth the trouble. The original Char B1 had a hydraulic transmission so that the tank could be very precisely turned since the gun had a very limited traverse - strikes me the French hadn't figured out that the hull gun was more trouble than it was worth.

Regards,

Charlie

I used the pattern of the track cleats from the model but rather than use 1mm card I used laminated 160 gsm card (4 thicknesses glued together = 1mm). This is much denser than 1mm card and I could cut accurate chamfers on the cleat parts.

Was it a painful process? - yes. Was it worth it? - perhaps.

Regards,

Charlie
