Ebro Armored Car Series

Hello all!

Recently two models of Ebro armored cars were released at the Spanish papermodels web site Los barcos de papel
As a coincidence in time I was just assembling a previously edited (by Todos los contenidos de Estamperia Popular |) version of one them, so I went building the whole family together.

The Ebro A/Cs were designed and built, in scant numbers, in Zaragoza (my hometown) during the Spanish Civil War. They were the usual clumsy behemoths more likely to frighten away militias than to do any real harm on them, but they fulfilled their duty of escorting supply convoys to the more faraway outposts of the desolate Aragon Front during the terrible year of 1937.

Jesús L. Bea's models are already known in this forum, they are a bit naively designed and require some dosis of intuition to have them properly assembled; but, as you can see, the result worth the effort.

The procedure is to build the hull eggshell and then place the floor inside to straighten the shape, finally add all the outer detail. The following is his Ebro II model.

His Ebro I is a bit more complicated as the engine compartment is detached form the hull and requires careful alignment. But, anyway, nothing beyond the skills of most of the modelers dropping by this site.

Then, I also built the Estampería versions, from whom I already built an Hispano Suiza model in this same forum: A couple of Spanish Civil War weirdos @ 1/72
This models are even simpler than Bea's ones, only they require that extra bulkheads be placed inside the hull to avoid warping in a later phase of their assembly.
Again I begin with the Ebro 2 version.

And to finish the Ebro 1 again, its shape is characteristically fascist as no other machine has...
BTW, all of them are in 1/72nd scale.

Having already built 3 of Sr Bea's Spanish Civil War kits, I agree totally with AgaPablo's statement.

These are very skillful builds, Pablo. It isn't easy to get such wonderful results in 1/72 scale. Great job!

I began one of the Bea Ebro models several months ago (enlarged to 1/50 scale), but got side tracked with a Warhammer recolor and build. I want to get back to it soon to expand my SCW collection.

Here's what I've accomplished so far:
