1/72 D-Day DUKW

To accompany the wading Sherman, I just finished this 1/72 scale Duck from Paper Tiger Armaments. I did a little minor Photoshop work before beginning construction. This is the first PTA kit that I've ever built, and I'll definitely be ordering more. For $3 bucks a kit on average, you really can't go wrong. The instructions are primarily text with several illustrated line drawings of the build steps. I was very impressed with the fit of the parts. Assembly is in numerical order, and everything came together without a hitch. There is some extra detailing I'd like to add if I have time before the USAHEC event in mid-May, but right now I want to get started on my next D-Day themed model - another 1/72 subject from PTA.

Another fine build Don. I do wish you would author a tutorial on some of
your photoshop skills. I would love to start incorporating some advanced
photoshop work myself.

Another great work Don.Your models look different to most, I do not know how to explain it, like a shadow or something that makes them look wonderful. Like Ray, I'm intrigued, what you do to make them look like this I do not have the Less idea, I just know that it looks great. Very well done!

very good lucking duck. pta models are very good, the weathering is a little rough for my tastes but they do edit very easily. once again great job.

I've got a model of a Sherman based Beach Armored Recovery Vehicle from D-Day. Think you might have time to throw it together? (I'll donate it to the cause)

Thanks for all the great comments, fellas. Ray, if you want to incorporate "advanced" Photoshop techniques into your models, I'm afraid I have little to offer, LOL. After the dust settles in mid-May, although it will be embarrassing to expose my lack of knowledge of the software, I will see if I can put together some kind of a tutorial that explains the basic techniques that I employ. Sergio, it's all about light and shadow. I visualize a light source coming from above and to the left, and draw in shadows and highlights accordingly. Aaron, I would certainly be interested, although I have my doubts I would be able to finish it in time. I'll send you a PM with my email address. Thank you for your kind offer.
