1/50 Egyptian BRDM-2 (Six-Day War 1967)
Another 1/50 project is printed and ready to build. Repainted, resized, redrawn here and there and also modified a bit. (the model is based on free 1/100 FDS kit)
The subject is an Egyptian BRDM-2 from the Six-Day War 1967. I've always wanted to build this particular vehicle. Also, this time I'll be posting WIP updates and I'll also try to make this thread instructive. The sheets you can see in the attachments do not have all parts. Either I'll design them later or just do them from scratch. I don't know. We'll see. I'll talk about the details in the next updates. The model is printed on 250g/m2 paper, the same I used for Israeli Ford Fairmont(1/50 Israel Police Ford Fairmont) So, that's all for now.

Here's the first update.
I started with the "middle hull". This model has its hull divided into three parts so I'll refer to them as: "lower hull", "middle hull" and "upper hull". As you can see in the photos, the "middle hull" is ready for the next steps. For the edge coloring I used the Tamiya XF-57 acrylic paint. That's not everything. The BRDM-2 from FDS has a very serious error. The front is incorrectly designed. Completely doesn't match to the real vehicle and drawings. I had to do a little surgery on my model. Pictures should explain all you want to know.

Good solution. It looks that you triangular areas you had to remove were supposed to be glue tabs. Someone forgot to draw in the lines so they got colored instead of remaining white.

Here's the second update.
Lower hull is finished and the underside is also almost completed. Just like I thought, the lower hull was also incorrectly designed(front). I had to cut it a bit. Otherwise it would not fit into the middle hull. Most of the underside is from scratch. Just try to imagine if the work ended at photo number 2. This would look horrible. Not the mention the construction would be also incredibly weak. Thanks to my scratch modifications, this BRDM-2 should be not only a bit more realistic but also really solid. Of course there're still couple more things to do in the underside. They're the next step.
