Thanks to everyone for their helpful comments. I considered stiffening the fenders but I’m afraid of discoloration. In any case, I’ve continued to putter along adding hull details — the muffler, a large round cover in the back, tow hooks and shovel. Regarding the shovel, the mismatch between white rectagles showing the position of the hold-downs is not my fault! (See photo). I glued down the hold downs and painted in the glaring white squares on the handle, so it doesn’t really show, but it’s the first mistake I’ve found that was definitely a design error. A couple of the tow hooks barely show in the picture. They were fiddly but came out well.

Brava! Looks like the shovel glitch was a fairly easy fix.

It’s been quite a while since I posted here or did any work on this project, but I had a good reason. My 98-year old father went into the hospital in February and passed away in March. It was not Covid; he just basically wore out. I was his only family, so all of the work of settling the estate fell to me, and as anyone who has done it knows, settling an estate is like taking a second job. After selling the house, I took a much-needed 3-week vacation, a fall color driving trip through New England. I came back refreshed and ready for the International Paper Modelers Convention, where I recharged my enthusiasm for sitting at the workbench.

I had formed the basic turret before my life got redirected, but the turret was being a little difficult about mating up with the rest of the assembly. It has a keyed pivot that fits into a matching slot in the hull, and I could get it to insert but not rotate. During the Convention, I tweaked it a little and now it works as it is supposed to. Having gotten that little problem resolved, I’ve spent the last couple of nights working on the not-too-threatening gun assembly. It came out fine, but I don’t think I’ll glue it on yet. It looks fragile and I still have the entire suspension to build. But I took a picture to show that I’m back on track and feeling good about it.

P.S. I don’t know why the turret color is different than the hull. The turret is noticeably more yellow, whereas the hull has a more greenish hue. The model was printed on a single sheet which was folded, so it all went through the printing press at the same time. It’s a mystery.

I’ve been puttering along, starting the suspension with the drive sprockets. These went well and I’m happy with them. Lots of smallish parts, but no real problems. They are shown on a one inch grid.

That turret has certainly caught the sun, it has a nice tan on it 😊 Really odd colour error though 🤔

Excellent drive sprockets.

Did you notice that the turret is a slightly different color than the hull? (Then ducks to avoid object thrown by Anne at Don's head.)

All looks good to me. I agree on field replacement of turret being cause of color mismatch....
