1/50 Romanian Panzer 38(t) (T-38)

Ok, it's time to start another 1/50 model. For a while I could not decide what to choose but in the end I made the decision. I had two tank recolors basically finished, Irish A34 Comet and Romanian Panzer 38(t) (T-38). Both are on my "list", but I decided to build the Romanian tank first.
My project will be a modified, resized, repainted Rawen's design. For now, I've printed only the most basic parts and tomorrow I hope to assemble the hull, just the "box", without the details and other parts attached to it. Those will come later.

Now, let's say a few words about the history behind the Romanian Panzer 38(t) tanks, or rather T-38 tanks, because that was the Romanian designation.

From Tank Encyclopedia:

The T-38 was the local designation for the wartime deliveries of Panzer 38(t)s from the German army in 1943, intended to replenish Romanian losses, and 50 were obtained in May-June. They served with the forces operating in Kuban. These formed the T-38 Tank Battalion, organic to the 2nd Tank Regiment and later the 54th Company attached to the HQ and, eventually, the cavalry corps, soldiering in Kuban and Crimea. Back in Romania, they were still in action with the 10th Infantry Division in 1944.

Very nice. I'll be following along with interest. I've taken R&P kits from 1/100 to 1/72, but not as large as 1/50. I'll enjoy looking over your shoulder.

The LT vz. 38 was a good-looking tank and a relic of a sad time in history.

Nice work, as always.

Here's the first WIP update.
Hull, the "box", is ready for the next steps.

New update.
I've installed the armor plates that cover the engine compartment.
As you will see in one photo, the design is not perfect and needs some corrections...

That turned out nice and neat. Any design defects are amplified when you scale up, but it's easier to remove paper than to have to add it.

Welcome back!
Lately I've been very busy with so many things that I didn't have time to work on any model or even write a few words here and there, in other threads on Papermodelers. Today I'm back, and I'm continuing the Romanian Panzer 38(t).

So, as you will see in the photos, I've designed the full, "3D", running gear. The original kit didn't have one, it had only a flat, "2D", imitation.
Road wheels are done. More soon...
