Water colour (slightly dampen the tip) or wax pencils work really well for edge colouring. The cheaper ones won't transfer enough colour and often fray the edge.

Nice building with some really fiddly little parts.

Planning on using this model to bulk up the load for a 1/35 SturmTiger...

Good work. I enjoyed reading the narration of your experience with this build.

Simon O'Neill speaks truth, but here is my additional two cents on edge coloring:

Caran d'ache Neocolor II water soluble wax crayons. (Caran d'''Ache Neocolor II Aquarelle Artists''' Pastels and Sets | BLICK Art Materials ) Especially good for folded edges. Can be used like watercolors by dipping a brush in water and then swabbing color from the side of the crayon in order to get into tight places. The crayons can also be sharpened to a point. It was Alan Wheeler who put me on to these.

Faber-Castell Pitt Artist pens (Art & Graphic) or Tombow ABT brush pens (Dual Brush Pen - Art + Craft). Unlike marker pens, these are not prone to bleeding into the adjacent areas. Excellent for edge coloring, not as good for coloring folded edges.

Expensive, but they last a long time.

Thanks Don Boose & smithdr!

I've been dying to build the second shell with some learned ideas and advice, but have been side-tracked by my second build...the Akagi Bridge Diorama. Boy, I was very surprised at the amount of detail and building on it considering it was a free download! I plan to go back and recolor some of the seam lines at a later point.

I'll update again after I make the second shell and hopefully the Sturmtiger model will arrive by then (I think I ordered it from Poland).
