Model-Kom Topol-M 1/25 scale
Ive been modelling for a long time and I've always wanted to try a paper kit but two things put me off... 1 the kits aren't that easy to find down this way and 2 I always sucked at art class in school where you had to cut things out of paper and glue them together.
well recently in a conversation with an old friend of mine in Poland we somehow ended up talking about paper kits and he said if I promised him I would build it he would buy one and send it to me... and that brings us to where we are now. A rather large package duly arrived from Poland with my first ever Paper kit and I am pretty sure Mariusz has thrown me in the deep end and yelled swim. Thankfully I do have some experience with scratch building and a little with 3D design and printing so while daunting it's not an impossible task First step though was to get past the wheels as there are 16 of the things and they're quite largish... so I sat down and drew up my first ever 3D designed wheel and tyre and I'm actually pretty happy with how it turned out... and so the saga begins |

Definitely in the deep end...but a good one to work through slowly and methodically, there are many parts that will benefit from your 3D skills and only make the final outcome better...
If you haven't already, I would suggest scanning the parts pages so you can make a back-up if you have a whoopsy on the first go...

Good luck. Those are great kits but from what I read way over detailed. Apparently some like it this way. |

Slow progress on the wheels, takes 8 hours to print a pair (they're handed so have to print a left and a right) I've now got 14 done 2 more to go... Gone through almost 2 kilos of resin...it's not going to be a light kit.

So it begins..
I'm still battling to get the last 4 wheels printed especially as we had house guests over 2 weeks through Easter so all my model gear got packed away so the model room could be used as a bedroom.
But everyone has gone home and it's time to dive back into things... So I've started drawing up the suspension components for 3D printing using the kit as a guide... It's proving to be easier than I expected it to be actually. If anyone's interested I'm happy to upload the STL files for the parts as I work my way through them for anyone else that might be contemplating tackling this kit |
