An old ex tank soldier nearby.

G'day folks,
Looking for some assistance to help a neighbour. Jack was a gunnery instructor in the Inniskilling dragoon guards during the Korea conflict. He is 95 and not in the greatest health but I am trying to find a Centurion Mk 3 which he spent most of his time on. Something that has good detail but is easier for an old guy to spend time making to pass a bit of time and distract him from some pain.

I have looked around and most are either small (Too small) or so detailed that they make no sense, it would be more frustrating than anything else. Anyone got a suggestion please?

Sorry to be a pain, he had an ambulance around this afternoon again so this is a bit more urgent than it was.

Stay well you and yours.

Mike

World of Paper Tanks did a Mk1 and a Mk7 Centurion, based on their game tanks.
I'm not aware they did any others.
But I can't find the Mk1 download any more.

I built the Mk1...didn't like it... but its probably the simplest at that scale.
I'd say its meant to be 1/72?
I think I built it at about 1/48

Even in plastic, the Mk5 is the one kit-makers focus on and builders look for.
So it might be hard to find a Mk3 paper model.

Or, are you looking for plastic?

if you want plastic, the simplest would be the Airfix 1/72 kit.

I just let one go, about two weeks ago (in a lot of plastic kits that I sold)...otherwise I would have donated it.
Unbelievable timing.

Timing the bane of the day. I was hoping to find a MK 3, I'm sure I saw one yonks ago but no idea if I just mixed that up with another mark. Paper by pref as frankly his chances of messing up a few times is quite good. Dodgy ticker and doubtless less effective mark ones too.
I shall keep a look out and keep searching.
Thanks, Dave, much appreciated mate.

My guess is you've got the Box Studio/Lazy Life A41 Centurion in mind, probably a pre-MK1 version. I think it's 1:72, and has a lot of parts for that scale so it's probably not suitable.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Well I found an alternate medium with enough detail and size to be (I hope) a reasonable result and a MK 3 to boot.

AFV Club 1/35 Centurion Mk3 'Korean War'

Thanks folks.

Thats a pretty complicated kit...I had the Aussie MK 5.2 AFV kit (same series/scale, etc)
Lot of parts.
But then again, a rubber track.
And if you were to ignore the interiors...

But its a bit pricey?
I only paid $35 Canadian for mine.

Well, it is a bit pricey but the tank museum do have a heavy hand with the pricing gun which I have experience of.
Jack is an old guy and if it gives him some hours of distraction it's probably worth it. He is a very nice old guy and a fellow ex tank crewman which is not something you come across every day. Either way two days with the regal slug. Looking for Inniskilling dragoon guards Cent decals. Fascinating results so far but not for sensitive eyes.
