Tray filled with bins (too tight of a fit) and right side extinguisher mounted.

And now on to the back end of this subassembly.

As you can see, there were dimensional issues with the rear box wrapper that required some surgery and extra color grafts.

More progress...

Picture 1: the wire lines were made per the provided pattern but as you can see, are too short. I bridged the gap with styrene rod.

Picture 2: the white pins had to be unfastened on one end so that the future missile mount can be pinned in place. Not sure about this whole assembly...

Pictures 3 & 4 show the box hinges that can not be found anywhere in the assembly diagrams. looking at pictures of the real thing and seeing locating marks on the top of the box helped me solve this mystery.

Pictures 5 & 6 show the little cross beams that those "speaker" boxes sit on. The left side beam is too long and I ended up locating the box in the previous pictures further outboard. This then affected the mounting structure for the left hand stabilizer assembly later on.

Picture 9 shows the rear stabilizers in place. These actually built up nicely. I did have to lengthen the cross mounting tube for the left side to bridge the gap between the box and the center section. The stabilizer rods can slide up and down and have just enough friction to avoid creeping down.

Picture 11 shows the beginning of the missile. I am building this next as opposed to the missile mounting structure. I figured I might need this to get stuff oriented properly on that structure. The plastic one in the background is the 1/35 scale version that Dragon models made. No it is not as nicely detailed as the paper one by the way...

Easiest. Part. Of. This. Project> The Scud missile payload.

Other than the manual dexterity required to roll and form the nose cone and some of the small details of at the base, I had no problems at all with this assembly. I still need to do a little edge coloring on it though.

The assembly of tires and wheels has been underway for a while. I just haven't had much to actually show until now. so far the fit on these has been very good. I did use laser cut lug bolts/nuts for some added detail. Also, I painted the wheel assemblies Krylon flat black to match the majority of reference photos I've seem and save some time trying to color everything the green the parts were printed in. here is my progress so far:

I would like to thank (insert deity or VIP of your choice) and the actual producer (GPM) for the laser cut tread block strips. While they are slightly short, they are a major time and aggravation saver. Now all I have to do is paint the tires with some Tamiya NATO black spray lacquer, like I usually do with tires assemblies.

After a brief pause due to the IPMC convention, I have started on the last part of this build, the missile carry rack and launch system.

Confusing drawings, incorrect part numbers and parts issues themselves are all in force during the construction of the missile rack and launch pad.

So little yet to do but so much effort to do it....

launch pad assembly: parts location and fit issues abound

missile rack arms: required holes are not marked as needing removed and the edge wrapping pieces are too short at the front not allowing the front curved area to be covered.

As I get closer to the end of this project the pieces seem to be getting smaller and more numerous.

Still fighting missing or mislabeled or misplaced parts and inadequate drawings and I'm inclined to invent new bad word combinations, but I'm still making progress and am gonna finish this thing very soon!

Here's my latest progress. I got some coloring to do but I'll get to that soon.
