gatlin gun
here are pictures of my late 1830 gatlin gun especially for those that like the older stuff. it is the forerunner to the modern mini gun 'see also in the armory'. this was also copied from pictures off the net and is based on collts 45calibre when they produced it in the late 1830s, i think about 37. this is one that turned out better than i thouht and really should have carried on and fitted it to a gun carriage. did'nt want to make it to large for display purpose. it ended up at 1 foot, just right for working the smaller details. it should, for the purists also have a circular colt manufacturing name plate up on top but could not find a way of making it with the small cast in writing, my patience will only go so far :D hope you like it. i really would like to see more paper arms shown in the armory i'm already begining to feel lonely

amazing, as good as the minigun, although i like the mini better personally. Im working on a Thompson thats in my sig, plan on releasing it when I get it done, but its no where near the detail of your guns, you do very nice work.

Beautiful workmanship. My build was the 1880's version which do not have the exposed barrels, and it was about 1/32 scale which is a bit bigger than the Tamiya 1/35 scale soldiers. Now that gun would look fantastic on a carriage but then it would be a bit too big for a desk. I love it and in repetition 'Beautiful workmanship.'

Obviously not 1:1 seeing how it is sitting on a (kitchen?) counter. Must say it:
"Wow! Is that really paper!?" :D

Cool. I think you may have the dates a bit off. Colt was barely working out his revolver in the 1830s. Typos aside, this is great. It looks like you could load a rack of .22 shorts in it and start plinking pop cans!

thank you very much for all your compliments.
tedparker: followed your link to your thomsons it sure looks the business! question, how are you going to detail the woodwork on the stock, by printing or hand painting? this has always put me off doing other guns of choice. silveroxide: ah, yours is the one in the download section. sits very nice. thought of doing your version at first. mmmm...pity it was not the same size as mine, i could have downloaded it and pinched your carriage. no, only joking. lot of detail for its size. ct erts: yeh, i had my doubts about its dating, thanks. rbeach84: what are you doing looking at my kitchen tiles? he, he. |

my modeling experience is with video games so ill most likely go with a printed texture of woodgrain, to make it easier to assemble, same on all the metal bits.

tedparkes,
Your mention of going with a woodgrain texture and how to achive it interests me. I am doing a B-17 design that uses a plywood type of woodgrain for the radiomans, navigators tables as well as the ammo boxes. Is there some special swatch or RGB color combination I could use? dessy, I think this is an exceptionally well designed and executed model you can be proud of. I'm sorry I intruded by asking tedparkes a question not related to your fine build. Ron |
