Interesting site. Lots of stuff to read.

Looks like someone needs to do some editing. The link is for 1945, though.

This is a useful document. It was published in 1999 by Robert Cressman of what was then called the Naval Historical Center (now the Naval History and Heritage Command). It is also available (without the 1935/45 typo) from ibiblio: https://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USN/USN-Chron.html

Cressman greatly expanded and corrected the original "U.S. Navy Chronology, World War II" published in 1955, now long out of print but available as a free downloadable pdf from Merriam Press (Merriam Press: Publisher of Books, PDF Publications and eBooks). However, Cressman's now-available 1999 expanded and corrected version supersedes it.

Oddly, the Cressman chronology does not seem to be available at the NHHC site, nor does it turn up at that site using the Search function.

In any event, it is a reliable document that includes other good information, including a bibliography of the works most significant to U.S. Navy WWII history up through the 1990s.

Many thanks to hrogers for bringing this to our attention.

Don
