Smile Most detailed, complicated Paper model on the market

Morning from Ottawa, Canada
and Happy New year to all

I was just going through a few of the companies sites and designers pages, and was wondering if anyone know of the most complicated, details papermodel that is currently avail. no mods just original kit.

The question came up when i was showing someone my Completed 1/16 Saladin model i completed a few months back, and they ask me the question

I think this is a good discussion to start the new year. and if you have built the kit, like to see some pics

thanks all

Peter

This is the most difficult model in my collection.

Comes with 3 different build configurations of varying difficulty and detail

any model can be made into a complexed model. I have posted a few thread in which some easy models have had some wondering if they were plastic. check out my threads here. Here is one from 40K Warhammer (Baneblade)

This one for me:

Supplier page
Navy Supply Vessel Berlin/Frankfurt am Main - fentens Papermodels

Build/photo thread
HMV EGV Berlin am Main 1:250

Super detailed and an insane build. Over 6000 individual parts. I'd buy this kit just to stare at it (unbuilt...)

The most "complicated" model I ever attempted, was Uhu's Blade Runner Blaster.
The hand grips alone stumped me...they are unbelievably complicated,
especially when you have no assembly instructions, just a couple of small grainy photos to work from!
I assembled about 25% of the model before throwing all the parts away.
(one of the very first paper models I attempted...inexperience plays a big part! I so wanted to build this amazing looking model)

I guess the question is how you classify "complicated"?

Part count?
Overall size of the model.
Difficulty of individual assemblies, as well as the entire assembly?
or just the time required for completion?

While I agree my Saladin Armoured Car kit has a high part count and can take some time to complete
it isn't really that difficult (in my opinion), and a beginner could produce a reasonable build (I hope).

I think my Centurion Tank kit has a higher part count...maybe?...
but it has some assemblies that are repetitive and time consuming.

My CL-41 Tutors aren't for beginners since they require some creative shaping of parts, requiring more experience as a papermodeler.
But they don't really have a lot of parts.

Kooklik's Type VII U-Boat is a very challenging kit to build
and has a lot of pages and parts!
Boats are especially challenging for less experienced builders (like me).

I'd have to agree, that the boat Niki has posted looks like a most "complicated" model!

For me 'the most complicated paper model' is the one that pushes me to the limits of my skills. It can happen anytime and basically with any model. And that's the joy of modeling to me. ;-)

The most complicated kits I have experienced, so far, have been either the Modelik Scud or the Angraf Sd.Kfz. 9 Famo for different reasons (parts fit, missing parts, or both).

Of the crap ton of kits I have cataloged the last couple month for the RJM estate, some hmv, wilhelmshaven and Angraf locomotive and ship kits look quite daunting due to parts count.

This is just my opinion though....

I don't understand the purpose of your question?

Are you looking for a model that will challenge your skills? Is there a particular field of interest? Planes, ships, trains, cars, figures, space.......

or is this just a poll to see who finds what complicated?

To me it is more important to know the subject I am building rather than complexity for complexity sake.

You can simplify complexity by studying other builder's experience when they post their build log.

and

good photos, figures, visual instructions can make a complicated model less daunting.

Why do we drive on a Parkway, and park on a Driveway?

And what good are Hot Water Heaters? ...hot water doesn't need heating.

Can't we just ask questions for the fun of it all?

I was just wondering what there is out there...i agree with you all that it is based on experience level and the kit, Daves kits are details but not really that hard,. I think all kits are doable no matter your skill , with the details of taking the time and research before building and ask from the forums for advise and help.

The question was simple.....most detailed or difficult or complex...just to see what is there. Lots of basic easy kits, thousands of middle class and high class kits, but how many kits that are beyond even the best builder??

Yes i may challenge myself, probably not, but still interesting to see or even buy a great kit that you can dream of one day building...

thanks for the info and details

Peter
