Most detailed, complicated Paper model on the market

As for me "the most difficult" means "with the most numerous identical parts to be cut & glued or repeatable operations to be done". Perhaps I am too lazy, but for me most of tanks are extremely difficult. And if you are not fascinated nor even interested in the real thing, making its model could be difficult, as far as we are talking about someone's hobby and not his job.

Since 99% of my paper models are real-space satellite, rockets, and spacecraft the most complicated for me is AXM’s ISS model. However, I’ve made it a bit more complicated by trying to add grab rails and other details. And I suppose you could look at the whole as an assembly of a few dozen component parts, But it’s one kit that as stalled and awaiting my return.

In my eyes, you guys that build paper aircraft are superstars of complicated builds and you ship guys are just loopy for working on such intricate design and builds at scale - for fun. :L:

That looks superb! Where did you get that kit from? I can understand why it's a model you have to keep coming back to - but keep going! Would love to see some more close up photos.

I haven't attempted any space models as yet, although my very first paper model was R2D2 and a version of the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars - do they count?

I would think this has to be on anyone's list of "detailed" and "complicated":

From what I have seen and read, that Crawler is big and a lot of parts
(and expensive)
but a fairly straightforward build.
These types of kits may be long, drawn out builds, but not complicated.

I say all this having never owned or built that model.

I still say Uhu's kits look fantastic, but might be beyond many builders,
especially when there is no assembly instructions provided.

I just thought about Maria, his older model of the robot from Metropolis.
Its a real challenge!!
I enlarged the parts a little and tried building the head...it didn't go well.

I had similar issues with his Ironman kit.
I am still stumped as to how the legs, pelvis and lower torso go together.
I never finished that model either.

I believe the OP was looking for "detailed" and "complicated," and the C-T would assuredly qualify as "detailed." And I would define "complicated," in part, as a kit having lots of repetitive parts. The C-T's tracks alone would meet that definition. Others can define the terms however they wish.

While Uhu02 may not provide written step-by-step instructions, he has provided sequential photos of his construction process.

And I wouldn't call repetitive parts as being "complicated".
A lot of different parts that each required a different approach to cutting, handling and assembly, would be "complicated".
A bunch of repetitive parts is just tedious...once you learn how to deal with the first one, you know what to do with the rest.

The OP asked for opinions. I gave one. I wasn't aware "detailed" and "complicated" were codified terms with set and definitive definitions in the cardmodeling realm. If I recall correctly, I noted that, "Others can define the terms however they wish."

I have always considered that a very tedious (not complicated) model, with thousands of parts will probably never reach completion. After some time working on such a model, interest on it wanes. That is why I have always preferred simpler, less detailed models which can be put together in just a few hours no matter if they are not museum type super extra special detailed, sometimes with many features which will never be seen after the model is finished. Case in point, the interior of an airliner or a big WW2 bomber which upon closing the fuselage, unless it has some sort of windows or opening section, thousands of hours of hard work will never be once again appreciated. It is just a waste of time. NOTE: This is my own personal opinion.

I wasn't trying to argue with you...I wasn't even criticising your comments about the Crawler kit.
Sorry if it came across that way.

I was only commenting on what I had seen and read on this forum (about that kit).
I was under the impression that the kit was well detailed, big, expensive, lots of parts, impressive when built....
but not necessarily difficult to build.
Maybe it has very detailed instructions that make it easier?.
I'm sure it has many repetitive and tedious assemblies.

I did clarify that I had not built the model and therefore didn't have direct experince.

I don't think any of that immediately makes it "complicated".
To me "complicated is defined as overly complex and hard to assemble".

I didn't take that as meaning "most detailed AND complicated"
If that is what he meant, then it is my mistake of not combining the two.
*but if I have to consider both detailed and complicated,
then my choice for Uhu's models (pre website photo laced design reports) still stands.
