I must say I am very enthusiastic about the vector way of doing things. I know everybody else has been so for ages, but better late than never.

The best part of it is that you can go on working on this version, recolouring, adding details, resizing, etc., with very little problems. It's really great.

Thanks Leif, very nicely executed, and credits to the orginal designer too! Nobi's Spitfire has long been on my list of things to build - and now even more than ever with your enhancements.

You do some wonderful work, Leif. It's great to see this "collaboration" with Nobi's work. I am personally intimidated by the idea of trying such fine detail work, but I am delighted to know that such work as yours is out there and available. You are one of several modelers whose postings are always very much worth reading (pouring over) and learning from. Thank you for your generosity in sharing and for your very warm, friendly approach to the hobby.

And thanks to you, NOBI, for your "simple but beautiful" models and for the many free gifts you make to us from time to time.

Don

Correction

Thank you, Don, Nobi, Milenio, Adam, and Lex!

I'll have to take the opportunity to correct a mistake I just discovered. On the left wing parts sheet (no. 5), the outside parts of the oil cooler have the wrong colours. They should be the same azure blue as the rest of the wing underside.

Since I can't go back and exchange the faulty file, the correct one is attached below.

Apologies to those who have already downloaded the files.

Leif

Help needed

I am working on a version of the Spitfire IX which represents the standard 1942 British camouflage (dark green, sea grey, light grey).

In that work, I have come across a feature that I don't know how to resolve (see image below).

I am working from a very detailed and authoritative drawing in Aeromodeller, Christmas issue 1961. As you can see the underside of the wing shows a very large and not circular roundel outside the regular national insignia roundel.

Now, what colour should this be - yellow, white, or what?

Grateful for any help.

Leif

Leif; comparing spits it appears that the large circle is showing the size and location of the 2-color roundel, as the yellow outside band is only applied on the fuse,( I could look it up in "Spitfire!" but I don't want to wake anyone up...)

Thank you!

Glen,

you are so obviously right! At first I couldn't believe that this was the solution, but two red lines convinced me beyond all doubt.

You have no idea, how long I've been wondering about this. Thank you!

Leif
