No.121 Fairey Gordon Mk I 40 Sqn

No.121 in this series is one of Bruno's 1/100 paid models - Fairey Gordon Mk I FAA, and a break away from Gerry's carrier planes for the moment. I have reduced it to 1/200 to fit in this series of navy planes. According to Wiki, this plane, first flew in 1931, was retired from the Royal Navy FAA before WWII and 49 dispatched to New Zealand's RNZAF, 41 of which briefly as pilot trainers and some subsequently to the Middle East during the War. So, she is one of the Fairey family, and thus a senior. Added are clear wrap windscreens, pilot seats, exhaust system at the aft of the radial engine, rigging and spinning props.

Great model, Papermate! Many thanks for the historical background. I always liked the appearance of the later Fairey biplanes - Seal, IIIF, Gordon, and the like.

This one looks good alongside the "Applecore."

Thank you guys for visiting.

Pablo, you must be a mind-reader or something. How did you know that I have got the
Flycatcher from Bruno just recently? I'm googling to see how the Fly should be dressed up.

Just a hunch, but the Flycatcher is the granddaddy of the rest Fairey family, and very useful for the FAA to enhance carrier operations and tactics.
Very impressed with your navy planes!

I think the Flycatcher is a great-looking airplane with its short, cocked-up fuselage (like a wren) bent knee undercarriage, and big open radial engine up front.

Aside from Bruno's stable of colorful Flycatchers in 1/100, LadNDad put out two versions of Serial N9664 in 1/48 (one in markings of 405 Flight, HMS Glorious, 1930-32, and one with floats); and Wings of Horus put out one in 1/48, N9679 in the markings of 404 Flight, HMS Courageous 1928-29.

I can't wait to see Papermate's build.

Awesome Papermate!

I start build of Lad N Dad Flycatcher in 1/100, is very hard to build, many parts not fit.. I believe Bruno Flycatcher is the best option for build in 1/200.

Yours looks great, Pericles. Yeah, building LadNDad models is a real challenge.
I'm working on Bruno's at the moment. Will post when the time comes.
Would love to see yours at 1/100 as well.
