I want to know where Shrike is going to store that huge plane once completed.

Hurry up! This is one of the most awesome aircraft ever built. Can't wait to see build pictures!

To address the various points raised so far (and because I don't even have any wheels to show just yet):
The yellow highlighter was to try to keep track of the different thicknesses to laminate, the black markers are all actually different shades of grey Prismacolor (and the 10% cool grey is surprisingly useful) and I bought all of the Elmer's at a back to school sale for $0.10 each, so if the nozzle clogs up I just grab another one and deal with it later. The A-8 is pretty much down to the strut fairings and a solid beta build, but the files are split on 2 computers right now, one of which has developed terminal dementia. I'll have to check out the build over there and see of there are any major pitfalls. The complete model will be hung in our lobby at work. My boss would have preferred a B-52, but this will have to do<G> I spent several hours standing in the shade of a Vulcan once at the Scott AFB open house. It was transiting back from an exercise at Nellis and provided welcome relief from the sun for a LOT of people.

I almost bought that model. Then I looked at the size of 1:33 P-38 I got from Oldtroll a while back and smacked myself into reality. The air museum I work at would love it as we have a Vulcan on display. On the other hand, my wife would kill me for spending so much time in the basement building, and then for it taking up half the house when it's done.
Good luck to you sir Shrike. The Queen demands her airplane :p |

Not much of an update. Had family from out of town visiting which kept me from cutting much card.
Got a start on the wheels, 16 wheels on the main u/c bogies. Two more for the nose. This is why I don't do armour<g>

True. As long as I stuck to things with a Christie suspension I suppose I could manage. It's just a change from things that usually have only two (lots of tail skids in my collection<G>) Gonna be lots of time with the Dremel later today!

I'm looking forward to seeing this come together, I bought the same model last year but haven't got the courage up to actually start it yet.
BTW hi, I expect that most of you know me from other forums. I've been lurking here off and on for a while now. |
