Most excellent! I really like this build. Well beyond my skill level, but impressive none the less. I want to give a dito on the rivet comment. Very real looking.

Rivets are printed, I did not make any modifications to the model and I'm not planning to.
Printed detail is way to nice for me to try to mess it up

Little progress over the weekend - model grew the tail. One thing here - the white outline does not allign between the tail and the fillet but it is exactly the same way on photos included in the model.
I also started the engine - one cylinder down, thirteen more to go....

Looks great, Mike. I have this model and may build it some day -- if the Ki-44 ever gets itself built and if it turns out okay. I have the cowling completed but have yet to build the first cylinder.

Very slow going but the engine is ready.
I don't think the push rods were arranged in this particular way but I decided to build as designed and none of this will be noticeable under the cowl (in progress)
As you can see the firewall needed some extensive sanding to allow for the cowl to slid onto it........

It's shaping up very nicely Mike - too bad that big radial won't be visible when it's all complete! BTW - Vector Models in the Ukraine does a very nice Mitsubishi Ha-112. That just proves how little I konw about engines - aways thought that push rods should be vertical..........
Those are nice engines. Thankfully they don't have them in 1:32 scale or I would be severely tempted to spend all my model allowance on their site :D

I had never noticed this before, but the long, forward slanting pushrods seem to have been a feature of the Kinsei engine series. In Francillon's Japanese Aircraft of the Pacific War, there is a photo of the Kinsei 51 (Ha-33) used in some versions of the Type 5 fighter. It, too, has that same pushrod arrangement.

The Vector models and other photos in the Francillon book indicate that the Zuisei and Kasei series also had that same arrangement.

So, thanks to your build thread and Adam's input, I've learned something new -- or at least, something I had never noticed before.

Cowling completed and installed in place.
"WPS" on the cowling parts mean that the gun openings should be cut out after assembly.
There are no inside parts for he cowl so it has to be painted black. Same applies to the air intake on top.
So far this was the most difficult part to assemble due to the oversized firewall.
