Almost there...
Canopy, the way it's designed is a major pain. Frame is divided into several small pieces and assembling them together requires a lot of patience. Doing this for the outside and inside of the canopy proved too much for me so I cheated and painted the inside one :o There are two parts (69c and 69d) that according to the diagram should go onto the outside of the frame. Problem is that they are in light gray and would look strange on dark green frame - I didn't use them. No problems with the auxiliary tanks. Go on together smoothly, except that the petal thing is still causing me some problems. They are no perfect but I'm happy with the result. On to the photos... PS Canopy is vacuformed (THANKS MR T!!!!) - I really have to master this skill....

Thank you Orazio.
I'm building this kit straight-out-of-the-box (nod to our plastic friends ) So what you see is exactly what you will get in the kit. The only modifications are wooden wheels and vacuformed canopy.

I agree it looks great. The tanks look very good, petals or not.

It's outstanding, Mike! I have really been enjoying this build -- as you know, I love Japanese WWII aircraft. I have this one, and your build is both an inspiration and an intimidation. No way I could equal this, but I hope to at least try my hand some day. Don

Don,
Thank you. Don't worry, just start cutting Propeller - oversized formers again, this time required a bit more sanding than for the fuselage ones. The biggest chalenge is part 73 where center has to be cut out. What I did was to cut out the entire former, made sure that it fits into the propeller where it supposed to be, soaked it in superglue and then cut out the inside piece by piece until it slid over part 70. Superglue assured rigidity eventhough the part itself was rather flimsy looking... I added one more wire as per the plans of Ki-100 plus the insulators made from white glue. Here is couple of shots to show the completed model - proper photo session will have to wait for better lightning conditions.

Beautiful! And thanks for all the information along the way about challenges for this particular model.
Just out of curiosity, Mike, could you tell us which Japanese aircraft you have built up to now? Don |
