This kit, and the Fokker Dr.I, are still regularly available from an auction site in New Zealand. They are listed at NZ$24.99 each unless a bidding war starts, which is unlikely as there are always several copies to bid on - the seller seems to have plenty of stock.

If anyone would like further information I can tell you what I know, but I am not associated in any way with the business.

In the past few days I've been working on this.
Slowly but steadily.

Added some more details to the cockpit, based on
several photos. Far from a perfect replica, I know,
but as I said, I just wanted to improve the kit, not
to make an ultra-detailed model (I don't have the
expertise for that yet ).

RAF Se5a (scale 1:14 ed Martinez Casalta)-se5a_018.jpg

The seat was heavily changed, and added a bit of
natural leather to simulate the cushions.

A comparison between the two cockpits:

More details:
RAF Se5a (scale 1:14 ed Martinez Casalta)-se5a_021.jpg RAF Se5a (scale 1:14 ed Martinez Casalta)-se5a_022.jpg

This will be huge! Look, there's my little triplane sitting
on the pilot's seat!!!

Old instrument panel besides the new I edited using
some photos from the Vintage Aviator:

Assembled the cockpit and the first part of the fuselage.
RAF Se5a (scale 1:14 ed Martinez Casalta)-se5a_025.jpg RAF Se5a (scale 1:14 ed Martinez Casalta)-se5a_026.jpg

My old cell phone is now dwarfed besides it....
and it's just barely half of the fuselage!!

Adding the details and assembling up to this point
took me 11 hours and 30 min, for a total work time of
16 hours and 15 mins.

New Zealand Auction Site?

Hi hatsudoki,

Could you please post the link to the auction site in New Zealand? I'd like to have a look at the Fokker Dr:I model in 1:14 scale.
Thanks.

All the best,
Bengt in Stockholm

PS.
or, you can send me a PM, if you like. Thanks.

Hi Bengt,

PM sent. If the moderators agree, I am happy to post the details here, but I have not yet come across the site policy.

How is Stockholm? I worked there for a couple of months in the early 1990s, would like to visit again some day. My wife loved the sausages with cucumber sauce, ketchup and mustard!

Cheers,

Mike

Mike,

What are you worried about?

posting a link to an auction site?

go for it, the more who know about it, the more will be apt to buy a kit

Rick

Bengt, the dreidecker of this same publisher has a wingspan of 54 cms (21 inches).
RAF Se5a (scale 1:14 ed Martinez Casalta)-mar_casa_dreid_01.jpg RAF Se5a (scale 1:14 ed Martinez Casalta)-mar_casa_dreid_02.jpg

Is a beautiful kit. But it is a bit older than the SE5a (the Fokker was released in 1991 and the SE5a in 1994).

RAF Se5a (scale 1:14 ed Martinez Casalta)-mar_casa_dreid_03.jpg

And the same as the SE5a, there is room for detailing, which makes it very attractive for a dedicated modeler. Specially in the engine and cockpit (which I probably will do when time comes).

RAF Se5a (scale 1:14 ed Martinez Casalta)-mar_casa_dreid_05.jpg

Buuut... a really wonderful detail of the kit... is that the rotary engine... well, it actually rotates!!!!

RAF Se5a (scale 1:14 ed Martinez Casalta)-mar_casa_dreid_06.jpg

It's been very hard to resist cutting this triplane and build it right now. The SE5a will surely be a good practice for it.

Thank you Rick,

The site is called TradeMe, and the link to the member who posts these models is:

Trade Me - Listings from fishlover21

The current lots expire on Saturday, but two each of the SE5A and the Dr.1 have been posted each week for several months at least. As I mentioned to Bengt, there are rarely any bids on these, and there is no need to pay more than the NZ$24.99 start price. Unfortunately, there are rarely many other paper models on TradeMe.

Cheers,

Mike

P.S. I should add that I have bought things on this site many times, and never had any trouble, although I have not yet traded with this seller.
