Rbeach84, thatīs right is the Bumble Bee II, the plane that broke tha guiness record in 1988, tragically crashed in the first flight but got the record and Starr survived.

The Bumblebee II is the next design from Robert Starr. After he built the Bumblebee, the Colomban Cri Cri came along and was smaller. So he built the Bumblebee II even smaller. Since it's so similiar to the Bumblebee, and smaller, plus not being able to find 3-views. I decided to not design it. (I couldn't find 3-views of the Bumblebee either, but what I did have was lots of pics from all my visits to Pima Air Museum where it lives).
I'm waiting for somebody to straddle one of those radio control planes and try to fly it. |

Murphy, the history said the BB was built to get the guiness record after Sky baby. Stits and Starr where partners, and after Starr didd not have enough credits, he buit the BB to get the record for him self. After the BBI flew, Stitsīson built the Baby bird and got a new record, but Starr then built an smaller BB named Bumble Bee II, but sufered an engine failure and crashed, Starr survive.
The Guiness records decided to avoid a tragedy, so they shared the record to both planes, one for the smaller monoplane, and the BB II for the smaller biplane. The fact is we can not get 3 views of BB II until buy them to Starrīs doughter in Arizona. Starr did not drawn plans, all was for templates and some general sketches. Cheers.
