Kampfflieger Fokker D.VII from Jasta Boelcke
Hello everyone,
This is both my first build thread as well as my first build in 1/144, so bear with me. Batesyboy and Getter1 twisted my arm and got me interested in Wings of War, so that's why I picked this scale. My previous work has been at 1/72 scale. These first pics just show an overall view of the model parts as well as some initial work. I selected this plane because I had done a lot of work creating the four color lozenge scheme and wanted a plane that would really show it off. Besides, I like the spade marking, I think it really stands out. The pilot is unknown. Jasta Boelcke's markings at this point in the war were the white cowling on the nose and the split black/white colors for the rear fuselage and tailplane. I have not gotten too far yet, the upper wing is built and I've begun attaching the rear fuselage turtledeck. I take my time with parts that require curving, if I tried to get it all at once it would only accentuate my inadequate building skills. Comments and suggestions are welcome! Doug |

It doesn't matter who is next, only that the plan is workiing, well, according to plan. Go, go my minions, spread the insanity!
And a nice build as well.

Thanks everyone,
Yes Getter1, I saw your tutorial, and hope to use some of your tips and tricks during my build. I like a colorful paintjob as much as the next guy, but I have a place in my heart for these more "common" looking planes. I guess that's why I like the two-seaters so much as well, those guys were doing the real "grunt" work in the air during WWI. More pics soon. The change in scale, while daunting at first, hasn't been as bad as I might have thought, especially with a good set of magnifying visors. Of course, now I look at some of my 1/72 stuff and say, "dang that's big." Doug |

Been a bit since my last build posting, but there has been some movement here!
Here's a not so great shot of how Roman's wing frames work. I was kind of daunted by them when I first tried them, but they actually work out quite well and line up great. The rest of these are just some in progress shots with the lower wing on and the machine guns in place. Doug |
