Stand-Off Scale F-105
I found myself wanting to build a "Thud" RIGHT NOW, so I dusted off this one. I bought a series of 4 models a few years ago designed by Hillel ben Yosef (sp?), scanned and printed a couple, but never got around to building them. The series included the F-105, Mig-21, SR-71, and a Spitfire. The models have a somewhat unusual design, in that there are heavy formers, but no the way we're used to seeing them. Each section has at least 3, and they slide in and fit werever they stick, that is, not at the ends of the section. There is also a glue tab along the front and side, but I cut it off and made connecting strips. So far I've gotten as far as completing the main airframe, many small details need to be added. Most of the small bits are too big, and need to be corrected. The fuselage looks "OK", but is too fat at the front, and the burner nozzle sections aren't shaped right, thus the "Stand-Off Scale" remark. I also noticed that 3 of the national insignia are upside down! I'll have to make some "decals" to fix that sometime.

Thanks for showing this model! Interestingly enough all four in this series are available through Amazon.com third-party sellers. Search for Hillel Ben-Yosef. The Thud is a longtime favorite of mine. I have the old Fly/Gomix kit but need to scan/recolor before building.

I got the 4 books today, not sure what the scales are, but the Mig-21 looks like a 1:35 or so
the Spitfire looks to be about the same. The -105 is interesting, there is one star and bars sign in the right orientation, the 3 others are upside down like Scott mentioned. the Blackbird is a nice kit, I would say that it is about 1:48/50 scale. They have the IAF feel to them, but they look great for 10 year old models Rick

Hello All,
Have you seen the 105 found here? Szigetvári Péter Pál - Papírmakettek :::::: Powered by: www.webtar.hu :::::: It builds up fairly nice though it could use a serious re-texture. I built one seen here. Sorry, I'ld take some better shots but the model was a lost in moving :( G1 |

Thanks, ct. Getter, I do have those, and printed one, but haven't built it yet. I know what you mean about the textures. Still, you say it builds up nicely? I'll have to move one up a bit higher in my build queue.
